Thom Yorke - The Clock: Music Video

This is a music video for Thom Yorke's song "The Clock". The song is about how we are endlessly consuming and time is running out for us to do something about it. I used treacle to represent oil due to its thick consistency and let it flow seductively over some 3D text.

The images below are taken from the first shoot of the video. I reshot the video due to unwanted reflections in the treacle.

The following image I used in my second shoot. I reflected into a 3D map of the world and was revealed as the treacle flowed over it. The image is a mosaic consisting of 19,044 smaller images (138x138) of war which is equal to the number of barrels of oil the world consumes every 20 seconds (+4). I based this concept on work by the artist/photographer Chris Jordan.
